It looked like rain when we parked at Gullane, the clouds heavy and brooding out over the Forth, and the forecast was for thunder. We really didn’t want to risk that when out with the lads, particularly Bracken, but the rain looked like it was far enough away to chance it. We’d planned to walk east along the coast, towards Eyebroughy, on our usual weekend route, but by the time we’d crossed the dunes the first drops of rain were falling. And little wonder as we stood on the edge of the dunes, looking at the clouds stretching across the water. You could feel it in the air: the weight of the rain above us, and I ran down onto the beach to take a few photos before the heavens opened.
These first photos are from the moments before the rain enveloped us and we dashed back to the car to dry off with a mug of tea. We waited for the weather to break, listening to the rain hammering on the roof and watching for some distant light in the sky, and when it did, eventually, we headed back to the beach to find a different cloudscape stretching before us. It wasn’t the trip we’d planned – it was too late by this time to venture further – but we had the beach to ourselves as we walked, watching the light fade.
Simple photos and simple moments, but I love this mood.

You know what? Nothing is more soothing than being around the nature and feel every inch of it. I wish I could just run from my responsibilities and enjoy nature to the fullest. These photographs are amazing!
