It’s been a while. I know I’ve said this before, but I didn’t mean to be away from this space for two+ months. My last post was at the start of January, still in the depths of winter, feeling grateful for a coastal walk with some beautiful shifting light, and here we are, almost three months on with longer days and new spring life budding around us. I am so grateful to see the end of winter. Don’t get me wrong, I prefer cold weather to summer’s warm and humid days, but the light… I’ve been longing for the return to light.
So just three photos with this post, from our first Friday evening beach walk of the year. This was a few Fridays ago and when we arrived at John Muir Country Park we’d intended to head to the woodland, as usual. But we could see the sky glowing in the distance and I knew we wouldn’t really be able to enjoy this light on the route around the woods, so we crossed the salt marshes to Belhaven beach instead. There were a few surfers around, but the beach was empty, this wide expanse of sand stretching before us, and this soft, gentle glow of the last light over Bass Rock. Just beautiful. After a winter of evenings spent indoors, it felt so good to be here.
