STARBURST HOUSE

18th January 2019

So hello. It’s been a while – since September last year to be precise. I took a blog break that became an extended blog break, and then I wasn’t sure when or indeed if I was coming back here. I’d been working on some other ideas – hopefully a new venture this year. I decided to spend less time at my desk. But I kept bookmarking ideas for blog posts. And occasionally an email would arrive with a great product range and I’d immediately think, ‘I have to blog about this…’ So I’ve been saving ideas waiting for the time when I wanted to sit down and write – and if I decided not to, well, that was fine too.

And then yesterday I was browsing Dezeen and I spotted this house. Random, but interesting, and it reminded me that I used to enjoy blogging about random and interesting things. Not planned posts as such. Just things I liked. Wasn’t that why I started Copperline in the first place? So, the best way to start writing anything again is just to start.

ASH ROW

24th February 2017

Coastal locations are always my favourite – we escape Edinburgh every weekend for walks down the coast in East Lothian – and whenever I come across a property in Cornwall, I have to admit that the location alone is often the USP for me. Just the thought of living within walking distance of Cornwall’s beautiful coastline is enough to make me want to pack my bags.

And this property, which is on the market with Aucoot, combines its fantastic location in Bude, just a few minutes walk from Crooklets beach, with a stunning light-filled home designed by Hogarth Architects. Located on Ash Row, this six-bedroom home is part of an award winning development of four houses designed under Hogarth Architects’ development wing Hogarth Homes.

STOCKHOLM COOL

1st April 2016

It’s been a few months since I’ve had a Fantastic Frank fix here on Copperline – you could fall for pretty much any property on the site, so I’ve tried to curtail my habit of late – but this gorgeous apartment in Stockholm was just begging to be featured. I mean, look at this space. It’s little surprise to see that this loft apartment has already been sold.

ABERCROMBY PLACE

24th March 2016

“We wanted to be in the New Town, and particularly this end of the New Town close to Broughton Street, and we wanted to have a garden for the kids and a bit more space for us,” says Anna Brocklehurst as she recalls her wish-list when property hunting in Edinburgh with husband Richard in the summer of 2013. The couple and their two young sons, Max and Freddie – since joined by 6-week-old Arthur – had been living in a flat in the city’s Bonnington area after moving north from London five years ago. Anna had studied in Edinburgh and also has family here, so she had a good feel for locations.

OAK KNOLL RESIDENCE

6th January 2016

I wanted to start 2016 on a gentle note. I have so many great properties to share, but I haven’t written anything for a few weeks so I wanted to ease the brain back into gear with a house I spotted at the end of last year when I was scrolling around for inspiration. Oak Knoll Residence grabbed me from the first photo. Viewing this house from the depths of a British winter, it just says light, spring, warmer days and easy indoor-outdoor living. This felt like the perfect house to kick off 2016.

BOVINGDON ROAD

9th October 2015

Style. Some interiors just have it. Indeed, some interiors just ooze it. The flow, the materials and sense of craftsmanship, the furnishings and lighting and the styling touches – it all adds up, and this house on Bovingdon Road in London’s Hammersmith & Fulham offers one of those interiors. Selling agent Domus Nova describes the property as “sensational” and, as these photos show, this four bedroom house certainly matches that description.
